Yes David is right, great lighting...was this image sharpened - I think maybe a bit too much :( Great shades though.I like it except it's too sharp especially where there are alot of details.
i saw this and immediately went WOW! such a mundane scene but uv managed to make it beautiful and interesting. very thankful u chose to display the b&w version.
Sorry matey but I think its's one of the weakest things you've done! It's overly done and it doesn't work in B+W for me ...mind you it doesn't work in colour either! Am I allowed to be so negative? I've noticed everyone seems to suck up to you in the usual 'You scratch my my blog I'll scratch yours' kind of way...
So....I think this is poor, compared to your usual stuff. ..but hey, it'll be interesting to see what other people say eh./...
Oh and btw...I hope you don't get touchy about this....I'm testing people ;-)
This photo remembers the summer house in Tebar ( Cuenca ) Has an old very similar stairs. The arch of the door suggests mystery. The number 8 is the octagonal sacred one that the alchemists and medieval builders use. A great work.
I disagree with Mark. I think it is your trademark b&w! Crisp, sharp and full of contrast. There are many ways to process a color picture into b&w. Maybe too many, that is why I avoid to show my pictures in b&w. I get dizzy with all my trials and can't decide on which I want. I like how you process your b&w. It suits your subjects perfectly.
To come back to today's picture I find it a nice frame and a lovely house! Wouldn't mind to live there !
thanks for all comments:-) i took this shot coz the high contrast from light and shadow caught my eyes. and i added more saturated in PS for making the result look differnt than i normally do. if u step back far from the image. u will see movement of patterns, shapes and texture r strongly appeared in term of abstarct , but it looks overly done and lack of midtone in term of realistic when u look closer in detail. i think the image is pleasing to me, but for others it may or may not. it depends on how we perceived it:-)
btw, I am so appreciative of the professional photographer (markpower) who give honest reviews of my amateur photography.(ehem)

oh! i love the shadow play here!
man what a great shot, i vote for u in best b-w photo. ill freeeeek out if u dont win this one :)))
Wonderful contrast as a monochrome! Like it much better than the color version.
tad too bright, and softening the shot would make it perfect! I love the shadows and textures all over the place.
Interesting play of shadows here creating some rich textures.
Thanks for providing the colored version as well. I didn't even notice the flowers in the b&w...

Looks much better in black and white, although a little over exposed. I love the play of light and shadow!

It's all been said here. I like it though. I think it's a very good shot, Not sure which I prefere more, the monochrome or Colour :) Suby
Lovely light in this shot as you say. More interesting than the colour version.

I like the shadows from the leaves and tree.
I like the contrast on ythis b&w picture. Also the feeling of abandon and the shadows in general. Nice photo.
indeed light and shadow, very lovely contrast
I love the way that the shadows really bring out the depth in this picture. Looks like a nice place to live.
I like this kind of high contrast photos, whith light and shadow. That creates a texture effect which is very interesting. Great shot.
