"I don't know what it is. I saw it on the Asbury Park beach, NJ" I like the pattern and straight lines against the wave. (Canon G5, 2004)

I don't know what it is either, but it does make for good photographic design and composition. Great photo.

Is it some kind of boat launch slipway?

?W/hateverit is, it makes for a striking image with the repeating pattern leading into the frame.

It looks like some sort of pier, perhaps. Anyway, I agree with everyone else, it's a very strong element in the composition. It's rock-solidness contrasts well with the flowing water.

It is waiting till it becomes:
"decay texture and broken pieces of wood" :-)

Looks like a pier. Great composition and contrast between the hard, heavy wood and the soft and moving foam.

I don't know what this is either. I do know the lines it creates are awesome. I like how the top edge of the thing matches up with the top of the image. It pulls me into the picture. Great find, whatever it is!

Love the pattern leading you out to the water. It is really striking too how dark the wood looks.
